Allow the white vinegar to penetrate through the tool after you have sprayed it again and then wipe it away as the stains will just come off easily.

Keep your metals as dry as possible to prevent rust from forming unto your tools since you already know that water or humidity can set it. However, if you just can’t avoid your tools from getting humid especially if you’re in a place where humidity is just a natural thing, then try to deal with rust as soon as you can find them. A more severe the damage can be faced once you left those rust untreated for a longer period of time making it even harder to remove.
